Chang LIU

Research and policy intern

Chang joined the IHA’s research and policy team in October 2022. Her role at the IHA is focused on tracking hydropower development progress and refining the methodological approach to determining hydropower potential for IHA's flagship report, the World Hydropower Outlook. She researches data on hydropower projects, updates IHA databases, and supports the Policy and Markets work packages for floating solar PV research.

Prior to joining IHA, Chang acted as a Policy Researcher at a renewable energy start-up in Edinburgh, where she supported the commercialisation of the cutting-edge CO2 heat pump technology. Furthermore, Chang has over three years of international finance experience on several EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) projects in China, the Middle East, and Africa.

Chang holds an MSc in Environment, Culture, and Society from the University of Edinburgh and BSc in Finance from University of International Business and Economics.

Chang loves hiking, cycling and being in nature.
