Women, in many communities, are considered as secondary citizens and, until recently, there were even highly developed nations which did not allow their women to vote.  The main hurdle in the path towards women-empowerment and equality is the financial dependence of most women on men.  Men are projected as the bread-winners and women are made to be completely dependent on the men for their livelihood.  The Foundation believes that organizing women into Self Help Groups and giving them financial assistance together with training for gainful employment and assisting in the marketing of the products are the easiest routes to women empowerment.
